Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS ) - aka ME

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is not a disease as such, but a complex array of symptoms that can mimic other illnesses. It is also thought that CFS is a number of different conditions characterized by similar symptoms

Symptoms may include aching muscles and joints, anxiety, depression, poor memory, difficulty concentrating, headaches, intestinal problems and pain, irritability, mood swings, sleep disturbances and most of all chronic and debilitating fatigue

What are the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

CFS is often difficult to diagnose. As the symptoms resemble those of the flu or other viral infections, it is often mistaken for other disorders.

Because routine tests do not detect any problems, it is regularly misdiagnosed as:

  • hypochondria
  • psychosomatic illness
  • depression

Why do I have chronic fatigue?

Also known as Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome affects people of all ages – though it usually develops in people in their 20’s to mid 40’s

The causes of CFS are not well understood but it is thought to involve the immune system and a different combinations of factors that affect people who are susceptible.

Difficulty managing stress may contribute to the development of CFS. The depression that often becomes a part of the condition can aditionally make symptoms worse.

What are the standard treatments?

Over the counter and prescription medicines are used to treat the frequent and sometimes severe muscle and joint pain, headaches and fevers that may accompany CFS.

However, they do not cure CFS, they only help temporarily relieve the symptoms. The good news is that if you think you might be suffering from CFS, there is much you can do in the way of diet and lifestyle changes to help yourself on your way to a full recovery.

How does healthy nutrition help treat adrenal fatigue naturally?

In some cases adrenal fatigue may become chronic, mainly because of prolonged stressful events, and poor health. The good news is that with the proper nutritional support and some lifestyle modifications, it can be treated effectively.

In every case of adrenal recovery, diet is a major factor

Treating adrenal fatigue involves reducing stress on your body and your mind, eliminating toxins, avoiding negative thinking, and replenishing your body with healthy food and positive thoughts.

This includes adopting a natural whole-foods diet, avoiding white flour and other processed grains, drinking plenty of fluids, identifying food intolerances and other contributing factors such as nutritional deficiencies, as well as the appropriate use of natural supplements and home remedies.

Lifestyle modifications include developing a regular sleep-wake cycle, getting at least 7 to 8 hours proper sleep each night, and avoiding stressful situations as much as possible.
